Wednesday, April 1, 2020 - The Setting of Ancient Greece

4/1/2020

Unit 5 - The Arc of History (Europe)

Mini-Unit: The influence of greece and rome

So we are moving on with our discussion.

First some things to understand:

I am concerned that there is unequal connectivity for my students, so I am trying to create as many pathways as possible to help you learn the material we are covering. So, choose the pathway that works for you. It is also very, IB to create your own pathway, so, we should all end up at the same place.

Note - At this time we will not be using the H.O.M.E. curriculum provided by the district as it covers South America and will be covered in Unit 6.

Today I want to start with some digital resources that Mrs. Gill (the 6I World Cultures teacher) and I agree are pretty good.

We have chosen Active Classroom from the available district resources. I want to first help you get to those resources through the district website.

You can go through the district website or, better go straight to a linking page set up by our IB Coordinator, Mr. Gribbins at
https://www.houstonisd.org/domain/51682

That is the first image below.

There you will find links to choices (see second image below).  You will need to open the HUB. Most of our activities will link through here so this is very important.

The direct link is https://www.houstonisd.org/powerup

Once in the HUB look for the "Digital Resources" tab (third image below}. Click on it and scroll down to the "Social Studies" resources (see the fourth image below).

Click on Active "Classroom". You can use clever if you have that set up or find Tanglewood MS in the school directory.

On to the lesson posted in the HUB today:

Update your Table of Contents (see below).

Notes 5.2 – Setting of Ancient Greece

Itslearning Link (HUB) -  https://www.activeclassroom.com/lti/launch?acr=AL-91123

This is a formative activity. Write your answers on pages 48-49 of your interactive notebook. Write the questions as well.

When done, go into the HUB gradebook and toggle the the status to "yes" (It is competed) for this activity (see last image below).. We are on the honor system here. The window for this assignment is only open for two weeks. At the end of that I will move the "Yes Completed" to the Homework Portfolio.
